Un saludo a los alumnos de 3º ESO A.

Como ya os comenté en clase, utilizaremos esta herramienta informática para ir haciendo cositas en nuestra asignatura.

De momento, para ir "entrando en calor" os pongo un enlace a mi blog. Tiene algunas cositas que ya trabajaremos más adelante.

MATHS IS HARMONY, SO IS PEACE

۞ There will be PEACE if you subtract arms, add dialogue, divide conflicts and solve problems.
Maths is HARMONY, balance between equations, certainty of getting suitable results,...., so is Peace.

۞ Numbers which shouldn´t let us live in Peace:

A − 842 million people in the world suffer from hunger or starvation.
W − 35,000 people starve to death everyday.
F − 100 million people died because of wars in the last century.
U − 200 billion dollars were spent in 7 armed world conflicts in the 90s.
L − 2,000 people die or are victims of antipersonnel mines every month.
! − There are 20 active wars everyday in the world.

۞ MATHS stand for:

M → for mankind
A → for acceptance
T → for tolerance
H → for hope
S → for solidarity

WAR = 0 ↔ PEACE = INVERSE OF WAR = 1/0 = ∞

MATHS DOESN´T LIE & PEACE IS DESTROYED BY LIES. LET´S LEARN FROM MATHS !

INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY: 30th JANUARY

As an introduction to the celebration of the International Peace Day next January, it would be nice to watch some videos with songs related to Peace in different languages: Spanish, English and French. Click on this link if you want to listen to John Lennon, Georges Moustaki or Bob Dylan.

Hola, de nuevo. He leído vuestros trabajos, Paula (P.), Zapata, Antonio J., Patricia y cia, Cristina C., algunos un poco más trabajados que otros, pero a todos vosotros os quiero agradecer vuestro interés y esfuerzo. Espero que os animéis y alguna vez os de por leer algo más del Poema de M. Cid o de Beowulf, o de cualquier otro texto épico. Seguramente os sorprenderéis gratamente con lo amenos que son, cuando pensabais que eran un verdadero tostón.

Hola de nuevo. Me gustaría que leyerais este texto (y cuando digo me gustaría... ya sabéis qué puedo querer decir...mesnadas), y que extrajerais las ideas principales, sobre todo, que valoraseis cómo una "institución" como la Escuela de Traductores de Toledo, tuvo unos objetivos tan loables y dignos de imitación. Mandad vuestros trabajos como habitualmente soléis hacerlo.
Para ayudaros a ese resumen: ¿Cuáles eran sus objetivos? ¿Quiénes formaban parte de esa "escuela"? ¿Qué tipo de textos traducían? ¿Desde qué idiomas? ... Y, por supuesto, vuestra valoración-reflexión personal. Gracias por vuestra atención y vuestro esfuerzo.

Textos Épicos

Espero que gracias a este trabajo de Jesús Ledo de búsqueda y captura de Beowulf y del Cid, (con mi inestimable colaboración, claro está), hayáis podido pillar mejor la épica, normalmente tan dura de roer como casi todo en la Edad Media. Sin embargo, a pesar de lo lejanos que nos puedan parecer estos héroes, nos los encontramos cada vez con más frecuencia en nuestras pelis de acción favoritas o en los video-juegos más apasionantes, o incluso cantamos las gestas de los que para muchos son héroes actuales. Lo malo es que hablaban bien raro estos del "Old English" y los del castellano antiguo. ¿Os imagináis que todavía dijéramos "llorar de los ojos" o "menear la tiesta", por mover la cabeza, o "albricias!", cuando estamos contentos por algo o un pelín mosqueados? .

Esperamos más entradas nuevas y, sobre todo, vuestros comentarios personales. ¡Manos a la obra, mis mesnadas!

Mes contra la violencia de género

Hola a tod@s, en la anterior entrada no os lo dije pero estais tod@s muy guap@s en la foto.
Otra vez accedo a nuestro espacio común para informaros de que es estas fechas (el mes de noviembre), se celebra el mes contra la violencia de género. Aunque no se trata como tema en nuestra asignatura, si es un eje de los llamados transversales, un principio educativo tan importante que debe estar en todos los temas de todas las asignaturas. La importancia de la noticia me lleva a informaros de las actividades que vamos a realizar en colaboración los departamentos de inglés y de filosofía.

• Lectura de textos, artículos, noticias, que traten el problema. Y como muestra, un botón jejejjee:

La violencia contra la mujer ha sido definida por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas en el artículo 1 de la «Declaración para la eliminación de la violencia contra la mujer» como:
Article 1: For the purposes of this Declaration, the term "violence against women" means any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.

Today we are going to listen to the song "Dancing Queen" by the Swedish group Abba. As a complement to this activity I suggest you take this short quiz about the group or the lyrics of some of their songs. I hope you'll enjoy it. And if you feel confident enough, I also suggest a piece of extra work: why don't you prepare a similar quiz about your favourite group or singer? Yo no sé inglés.....pero tengo mucho interés en que vosotros aprendáis las cuestiones relativas a la buena ciudadanía...EN VARIOS IDIOMAS..(por lo menos dos)
